The Devil (The Cuphead Show)*
2D Concept Art Inspo

This project began with the idea of emulating the fluidity of traditional rubberhose cartoon characters in 3D, specifically the Devil from the beloved game-turned-series, Cuphead. The main challenge was to preserve the strong silhouette of the Devil whose anatomy in the show is consistently subject to the squash and stretch principles of hand-animation, while giving him a PBR look and feel that emphasizes his design; high-contrast, bendy limbs, and clean, sharp features. This breakdown aims to showcase the model-to-render pipeline using various tools along the way.
